BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After defeating #3 Lafayette in the quarterfinal round, #6 Lehigh heads north to face #2 Boston U. in the semifinal round of the Patriot League tournament. The winner will face either #1 Colgate or #5 Bucknell in the championship game on Wednesday, March 13.
Lehigh (13-17) trails Boston U. (16-16) in the all-time series 15-9 and have fallen to the Terriers in their last three meetings. The Terriers defeated the Mountain Hawks twice this season, albeit by a combined three points across two games. Lehigh is 3-7 in its last ten games against Boston U.
If Lehigh wins, they would advance to their first Patriot League championship game since the 2016-17 season. A win would snap the team's three-game losing streak to the Terriers and would mark the sixth win in Lehigh history as a #6 seed or lower in the Patriot League tournament.
Lehigh defeated rival Lafayette in Thursday's Patriot League quarterfinal by a score of 76-61 to advance to the semifinal round. The win marked Lehigh's third over Lafayette this season, a feat that hadn't been accomplished since the 2000-01 season. Burke Chebuhar posted a game-high 22 points on 8-11 shooting and a 6-7 mark from outside the arc in the win. Tyler Whitney-Sidney and Dominic Parolin joined him in double figures with 19 and 14 points respectively. In addition, Keith Higgins Jr. tallied five points and a game-high seven assists, leaving him only 10 points shy of reaching 1,000 for his career.
The Terriers enter Sunday's semifinal as winners of their last six games. BU's late season push helped propel them to the #2 seed in the Patriot League, finishing the regular season with a 10-8 record in league play. The Terriers defeated #7 Navy in their quarterfinal 70-61 to advance to the semis. Two Terriers earned postseason distinction from the Patriot League, those being Miles Brewster (Second-Team, All-Defensive, All-Academic) and Kyrone Alexander (All-Rookie). Brewster leads the Terriers in scoring with an average of 10.9 points per game, followed closely by Anthony Morales at 9.9 points per game.
Sunday's game will be aired on CBS Sports Network and can be listened to on Fox Sports Radio 94.7 FM and 1230 AM.
