KANSAS CITY – First-year Ryan Crookham will wrestle Friday night in the national semifinals and earned All-America honors in the process, highlighting Lehigh's Friday afternoon session at the NCAA Championships at T-Mobile Center.
Â
Crookham won a 4-2 decision over Nasir Bailey of Little Rock in the quarterfinals and will now face Cornell's Vito Arujau, the defending NCAA and World Champion for the third time this season.
Â
All of Crookham's scoring versus Bailey came in the second period, as Crookham escaped early and then scrambled his way into a late takedown. Bailey picked up a pair of penalty points for stalling to account for the final margin.
Â
Crookham wins Lehigh's 161st All-America honor. He is the 10th Lehigh first-year wrestler to earn a spot on the podium and the first since Darian Cruz (true) and Mitch Minotti (deferred) accomplished the feat in 2014.

Stanich will face Matt Ramos of Purdue in the round of 12 with the winner earning a podium place.
Â
Junior Michael Beard (197) and sophomore Nathan Taylor (285) dropped their quarterfinal bouts and will need a win Friday night to make the podium.
Â
Beard dropped an 8-2 decision to Rocky Elam of Missouri, with Elam scoring takedowns in the first and third period. In the round of 12 Beard will face Andy Smith of Virginia Tech.
Â
