BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh women's basketball will head north to close out the season series with Boston University on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Case Gym. With only three games remaining in the regular season, Wednesday's game will be crucial for Patriot League Tournament seeding.
The Mountain Hawks are 15-11 (7-8 PL), and the Terriers are 16-10 (8-7). If the season ended today, Lehigh would be the seventh seed in the Patriot League Tournament, and Boston University would be the fourth seed.Â
The Mountain Hawks are coming off a 68-63 loss to Lafayette. The Mountain Hawks were leading 33-30 at halftime, and it marked just the second time this season that Lehigh lost a game when leading after the first 20 minutes.Â
Junior guard Colleen McQuillen tallied a career-high 25 points after going 10-of-17 from the field. McQuillen has now scored in double figures in the last five games, which is the longest streak on the team. She is averaging a career-best of 9.2 points while also dishing out 3.8 assists per game, which is second in the Patriot League.Â
Ella Stemmer (15 points) and Remi Sisselman (10 points) were the only other players besides McQuillen to finish in double figures.Â
Boston University is coming off of a 70-65 overtime loss to Loyola. The Terriers led by as many as 12, but the Greyhounds made the game-tying bucket with 9.3 seconds to force overtime. Boston University was 0-for-9 from the field in overtime.Â
Caitlin Weimar leads the way for Boston University, scoring a Patriot League-best 18.3 points per game. Weimar also leads the league in rebounding (10.5 per game).Â
Lehigh and Boston University met already this season, with the Mountain Hawks defeating the Terriers 64-62 on Feb. 3. Alex Giannaros had an opportunity to tie the game, driving down the lane and putting up a layup, but it would not fall. Stemmer was there to grab the rebound to secure the victory for Lehigh.Â
Sisselman was credited with the game-winning shot as she put Lehigh up 64-60 with 2:10 to play. Four Mountain Hawks finished in double figures against Boston University. Stemmer had 13 points, Sisselman and Meghan O'Brien scored 12 points, and Lily Fandre added 11 points.Â
Giannaros led the Terriers with 17 points in the first meeting.
Lehigh is 12-11 all-time against the Terriers. The last time the Mountain Hawks won on Boston University's floor was on Feb. 5, 2022, in a 68-65 win.Â
Following Wednesday's game, Lehigh hosts Colgate on Senior Day on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
