Mountain Hawks Rank 11th In Latest USTFCCCA Regional Poll

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following a 25th place finish in Saturday's Paul Short Run Gold 6K race, Lehigh women's cross country has earned a spot in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division-I Mid-Atlantic Regional poll. The Mountain Hawks check in at number 11 in the region after a successful weekend.
After being ranked number 14 in the preseason, Lehigh returned to the regional rankings after placing 25th in a pool of 42 competing teams in Saturday's Paul Short Run Gold 6K race. The Mountain Hawks finished ahead of several teams in their region, including also ranked Maryland, Rutgers and Monmouth.
Junior Lucy Afanasewicz led Lehigh with a 51st place finish, running the 6K in 21:01.7. Her time was the fifth-fastest for a Lehigh runner in Goodman Campus course history. First-year Kaitlyn Highduch finished in second for the Mountain Hawks with a 132nd place finish in 21:40.8 while senior Maddison Hayes was third with a 164th place finish in 21:54.3.
The Mountain Hawks will next race on Friday, October 18th in New York City for the ECAC Championships.
