Mountain Hawks Fall To Columbia On Senior Day

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh field hockey team dropped a 2-0 contest to Columbia on Senior Day on Sunday.
 
Fifth-year Julia Gatelein along with seniors Eleni Kountroubis, Guusje Hogendoorn and Jenny Canoni were recognized for their commitment and dedication to the Lehigh field hockey program over the past few years.
 
The first quarter remained scoreless as Lehigh held a 4-2 advantage in shots for the opening quarter.
 
Columbia took a 1-0 lead with 3:10 left in the first half, as Ashley Kim finished an endline to stroke pass from Sam Petrucco.
 
The Lions struck again 3:36 seconds into the second half, extending their lead to 2-0.
 
Lehigh held a 22-16 advantage in shots along with a 9-3 lead in penalty corners. Gatelein and junior Kiki Mes led Lehigh with five shots apiece while Hogendoorn and sophomore Ella Stephenson added four shots each.
 
The Mountain Hawks (6-9) are back in action on November 2 as they host Holy Cross at Ulrich Field at noon.
