Lehigh Hosts Bucknell In First Home League Game Of The Season

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's basketball got back on track with a win over Loyola Maryland in their last time out on Saturday night. The team now looks to build on that success at home with a visit from the Bucknell Bison on Wednesday.
Bucknell (4-11, 1-1 PL) holds a 110-73-1 advantage in the all-time series against Lehigh (4-9, 1-1 PL) dating all the way back to 1902. Lehigh enters Wednesday's contest winners of the last four meetings, a streak that began in the 2021-22 season. The Mountain Hawks picked up a 78-62 victory over the Bison in their last meeting on February 22, 2023 in Bethlehem.
With a win, the Mountain Hawks would move to 2-1 in the Patriot League standings and earn their first win streak of two or more games this season. In addition, Lehigh's current win streak over Bucknell would extend to five games.
Lehigh faced a challenge against Loyola Maryland in their last time out, as the Mountain Hawks had to play without two of their regular starters in the lineup. Several players stepped up admirably in the absences of Dominic Parolin and Keith Higgins Jr., most notably senior Jalin Sinclair, who exploded for a career-high 30 points on 12-15 shooting in the 88-76 win over the Greyhounds. Tyler Whitney-Sidney followed up his 26-point performance against American with 25 against Loyola while first-year Joshua Ingram tied his career-high of 14 points in the win as well. The Mountain Hawks currently sit in sixth place in the league with just under two months still yet to come in the Patriot League season.
The Bucknell Bison earned a victory in their first Patriot League game of the season, defeating Holy Cross 70-58 inside their home court of Sojka Pavilion. On Saturday, the Bison could not overcome the American Eagles, falling 71-63 to move to 1-1 in the league standings. Senior Jack Forrest leads the way for the Bison in the scoring department, putting up team and Patriot League best 15.4 points per game. He is joined by seven-foot sophomore Noah Williamson and junior Elvin Edmonds IV as players averaging double-digit points, as the pair posts marks of 10.3 and 10.0 points per game respectively. Despite a 4-11 overall record, Bucknell sits just behind Lehigh in the league standings and holds a 76-67 win over Penn State this season.
