Mountain Hawks Set To Face Midshipmen In Annapolis

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh looks to get back on track in Patriot League play on Wednesday night, as the Mountain Hawks travel to Annapolis to take on the Navy Midshipmen. The Mountain Hawks will be in search of their second league victory on Wednesday.
The Midshipmen (6-9, 2-2 PL) hold the advantage in the all-time series between these two programs at a record of 54-35. The two teams split the season series in 2022-23, as each team won their respective away game. The Mountain Hawks (4-11, 1-3 PL) hold a record of 33-36 against Navy since the Mids joined the Patriot League in 1991.
A Lehigh win would give the Mountain Hawks their second Patriot League victory on the season and fifth overall. A win would also be Lehigh's third consecutive victory over the Midshipmen in Annapolis, as the Mountain Hawks claimed wins over Navy at Alumni Hall in 2022 and 2023.
Lehigh heads back on the road following a two-game homestand during Patriot League play. The Mountain Hawks played host to the Bucknell Bison on Wednesday and the Holy Cross Crusaders on Saturday, falling in two very competitive games to both teams. Lehigh dropped an 86-80 decision to the Bison despite outscoring them 50-39 in the second half. On Saturday, the Mountain Hawks forced overtime thanks to a Nasir Whitlock driving layup, but the Crusaders picked up the 69-66 win in extra minutes. Whitlock, the first-year out of Plymouth, Minnesota, has scored double-digit points in back-to-back games, including a career-high 15 against Holy Cross.
The Navy Midshipmen have gone 1-1 in both weeks thus far in Patriot League play, earning wins over Boston U. and Holy Cross while falling to Colgate and Lafayette. The Mids most recently traveled to Easton to take on the Leopards, who defeated them by a score of 78-62. Sophomore Austin Benigni leads the team in scoring a mark of 14.8 points per game, which puts him at fourth in the Patriot League. Despite being listed at six foot five, sophomore Donovan Draper leads the Midshipmen and the Patriot League with an impressive 9.5 rebounds per game. The West Palm Beach, Florida native also ranks second on his team in scoring with an average of 10.3 points per game and leads the conference with 2.7 steals per game.
