Mountain Hawks Set To Host Holy Cross On Saturday Evening

1/12/2024 12:37:00 PM | Men's Basketball

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's basketball welcomes one more Patriot League opponent to Stabler Arena on Saturday before heading back on the road next week. The Holy Cross Crusaders travel south to Bethlehem to take on the Mountain Hawks at 5 p.m.

The Crusaders have the edge in the all-time series between Lehigh (4-10, 1-2 PL) and Holy Cross (3-13, 0-3 PL) with a record of 44-30. The Mountain Hawks are 7-3 in their last ten meetings against the Crusaders, including a 2-0 sweep of Holy Cross in their two meetings last season. Lehigh picked up a 76-58 win on their home court on January 11 and then won 74-68 at Holy Cross on January 25.

With a win, the Mountain Hawks would move to 2-2 in Patriot League play and 5-10 overall on the season. A win would also give Lehigh its first against a league foe on their home court since defeating Bucknell in late February last season.

Lehigh welcomed Bucknell to Stabler Arena on Wednesday for their first home Patriot League contest of the season. The Mountain Hawks found themselves in a big hole after the first half of play, trailing by 17 heading into the locker room. However, Lehigh stormed back in the final 20 minutes, outscoring the Bison by 11 in the frame. Unfortunately, their comeback effort was all little too late, as Bucknell came away with an 86-80 victory at Stabler Arena. Senior Jalin Sinclair posted his second consecutive game of 20+ points with a 20-point performance, including an 11-12 mark from the free throw line. Bube Momah (19p), Nasir Whitlock (11p), Tyler Whitney-Sidney (10p, 7a) and Burke (10p, 12r) joined Sinclair in double-figures.

Holy Cross enters Saturday's contest having lost their first three Patriot League games to the likes of Bucknell, Army West Point and Navy. The Crusaders fell at home in their last time out to the Midshipmen by a score of 80-70. In their non-league schedule, Holy Cross earned wins over Georgetown, IUPUI, and Elms College. Holy Cross' leading scorer is senior Joe Octave, whose scoring average of 15.1 points per game ranks fourth in the Patriot League. Junior Caleb Kenney joins him with a double-figures average of 10.1 points per game, and his 1.4 blocks per game ranks second in the league.

Saturday's game will be aired on ESPN+.
