Field Hockey Travels to Lock Haven Friday; At Hofstra Sunday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh field hockey team heads into this weekend at 1-1, looking to pick up wins on their first road trip of the season. The Mountain Hawks will play at 7 p.m. on Friday at Lock Haven, followed by a 1 p.m. matchup with Hofstra on Sunday.
Head coach Kelsi Lykens and the team picked up the new head coach's first win last weekend, overpowering Ball State 4-3 on Sunday. Seniors Julia Gatelein, Abbie Brown, Lotte Smorenburg and junior Guusje Hogendoorn scored goals for the Mountain Hawks.
In the 5-2 loss to Ohio State on Friday, sophomores Zoe Day and Maddie Kandra found the back of the net.
Lock Haven heads into Friday's game 1-0, defeating Queens (Charlotte) 7-0 last Sunday. Junior Constanza Lopez Zabala led scoring with two goals and one assist. The Bald Eagles lead 11-1 in the all-time series, including a 3-2 win over the Mountain Hawks last season.
Hofstra is 1-1 this season including a 8-0 win over Merrimack and a 4-0 loss to Fairfield on opening weekend. Junior Silvia Vetter and sophomore Pilar Penaloza lead the Pride with two goals apiece. The series dating back to 1985 is tied 4-4-1 with Sunday's game marking the first meeting since 1995.
