Aggen and Scott Capture Patriot League Weekly Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh sophomore Grace Aggen and senior Ian Scott were selected as Patriot League Athletes of the Week for their performances this past weekend.

Aggen was awarded the Patriot League Women's Field of the Week after finishing second in the discus, throwing a distance of 47.69m at the Covert Classic.

"Grace is a wonderful addition to the team," commented Women's Track and Field Head Coach Khayla Atte. "Her dedication and positive energy lead me to believe she has potential as a school record holder. She has a high level of raw talent that will take time and patience to develop: we're excited to be part of her journey."
Scott, this week's Men's Field Athlete of the Week, turned in a second-place finish in the triple jump at the Penn Relays with a distance of 14.60m, just 0.09 meters behind the first-place finisher and now is first in the PL with this mark. Scott was also the highest Mountain Hawk finisher in the high jump, placing third with 1.97m at the Covert Classic.

Senior Kerem Ayhan and sophomore Savanah Beavers were also named as honorable mentions for their performances. Ayhan was the first to cross the finish line, winning the 800m race, completing the race in a time of 1:50.14 at the Covert Classic. Beavers finished in first place in the 3,000m steeplechase in a time of 10:58.92, almost 47 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher at the Covert Classic.
The Mountain Hawks' now will prepare to host the 2023 Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Friday and Saturday, May 5-6 at the Goodman Track and Field Complex. The meet will be streamed on ESPN+.
