Lehigh Men Add Two Top-10 Performances Over Three Meet Weekend

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's track and field team completed a three-meet weekend of action with Mountain Hawk athletes competing at the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Va., The Coach Pollard Invitational at Moravian and the Rider Invitational. The weekend featured a pair of all-time top 10 additions as well as a couple event wins for the throwers at the Coach P Invitational and an event win at Rider.
 
Virginia Challenge
Sophomore Skyler Mott led the way for the men's contingent at Virginia, finishing fourth in the high jump, clearing 2.06m to move into a tie for fifth place all-time. Senior Kerem Ayhan delivered another strong performance in the 800m, crossing the finish line in 1:49.52 to finish 19th. Sophomore Patrez Thomas competed in the 400m hurdles, turning in a time of 53.82 to finish fourth. Senior Amondo Lemmon ran the 400m, posting a time of 50.68. Senior Jake Martinez and sophomore Aidan Lynch both competed in the 800m and 1500m.
 
Coach Pollard Invitational
Action began Friday in Bethlehem with junior Achilles Mouzakis winning the hammer throw with a toss of 52.77m. Junior Alex Clevenger led Lehigh in the shot put with an effort of 15.18 to finish second. Sophomore Liam Lovering was one place behind, at 14.91. Saturday's competitions saw sophomore Greg Stagliano win the javelin, throwing 60.65 to move into fifth place all time. Sophomore Hunter Rodarmel finished third with a throw of 56.34. Lovering won the discus, with a throw of 49.88 while first-year Wil Jaques finished seventh with a PR of 41.33. Stagliano also earned a PR in the event.
 
Rider Invitational
First-year Adam Barbato led a Lehigh effort in the 3000m steeplechase that saw Mountain Hawk runners claim three of the top four places. Barbato won the event with a time of 9:30.72, with first-years Henry Burd and Max Leffler claiming third and fourth respectively. Senior Tyler French led three top-10 finishers for Lehigh in the 1500m finishing third in 3:55.67. First-year Tyson Utesch finished second in the pole vault (3.95m) with sophomore Jack Murphy finishing fourth (3.80m). In the jumps, senior Brittann Pierce took seventh in the high jump (1.84m), first-year Daniel Givens finished eighth in the long jump (6.66m) and sophomore Jordan Layos finished ninth in the triple jump (12.95).
 
The Mountain Hawks will compete in two meets next weekend, the final weekend before the Patriot League Championship May 5-6. Lehigh will host the Carol and John Covert Classic April 28-29 on the Goodman Track and Field Complex, while select athletes will compete at the prestigious Penn Relays at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.
