Mountain Hawks Top Colgate 4-2 To Complete Weekend Series Sweep

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Graduate student Carley Barjaktarovich went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and first-year Lily Owens drove in three as the Lehigh softball team completed a three-game sweep of Colgate with a 4-2 victory Sunday afternoon at Eaton Street Softball Complex.
 
First-year Chloe Hess added another solid outing in the circle to earn her third straight victory.
 
Lehigh is now 9-0 at the midway point of Patriot League play and 31-9 overall. The Mountain Hawks are tied with Boston University at the top of the league standings. Colgate is now 15-22 overall and 5-4 in the league.
 
Owens picked up her first RBI of the day in the top of the first when she reached on a fielder's choice with Barjaktarovich scoring from third.
 
Lehigh added to its lead with two runs in the third inning as senior Emily Cimino singled home Barjaktarovich and then Owens delivered a single to score Cimino.  
Hess allowed just two runs over 17.1 innings in the series against Colgate. They came on a two-out Steph Jacoby two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth.
 
Owens provided insurance with a sacrifice fly that scored sophomore Lindsey Martin in the top of the seventh and Hess set the Raiders down in order in the bottom of the inning to close out the victory.
 
Hess improved to 12-4 on the season after allowing two runs on six hits with a walk and a strikeout. She also helped strand six Raiders on base.
 
Lehigh finished with 10 hits, led by Barjaktarovich's third career four-hit game.
 
The Mountain Hawks will be home for their next four games, beginning Wednesday when Lehigh hosts Villanova in a single game at 3:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
