Lehigh Looks to Defend Home Court Versus La Salle

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Off to its best start since 2014-15, the Lehigh women's basketball team welcomes La Salle on Thursday to Stabler Arena for a 7 p.m. matchup. The Mountain Hawks come into the game with an overall record of 7-1, while the Explorers are 3-5.Â
After losing its first game of the season to Bowling Green on Nov. 24, the Mountain Hawks battled back and won both of their games last week against Drexel and Hofstra. Lehigh improved to 3-0 on the season against CAA teams, as the Mountain Hawks also beat Delaware earlier in the season.Â
Lehigh hit 13 three-pointers and used a16-3 run in the fourth quarter to help defeat Hofstra in its most recent game. Lehigh's 13 three-pointers were a season-high.Â
The Explorers are 3-5 heading into Thursday's game. La Salle has lost its last three games.The Explorers are coming off of a 98-67 loss to Rutgers on Tuesday.
Junior guard Ella Stemmer earned Patriot League honorable mentions on Dec. 4 after averaging 15.5 points last week, 2.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals. Stemmer has had a stellar start to the year.Â
The Ann Arbor, Mich., has reached double figures in seven games this season, with six of those coming in Lehigh's last six games.
Stemmer is averaging 15.5 points per game, Lily Fandre is averaging 10.9 points per game, and Colleen McQuillen is putting up 10.1 points per game. Meghan O'Brien is close to averaging double figures. The Virginia native is putting up 8.9 points per game. All four players are averaging season highs right now.Â
Lehigh is now receiving 19 votes in the college insider poll. The only other school in the Patriot League that is also receiving votes is Boston University (12).Â
La Salle leads the all-time series 12-4. The Explorers have won the last four meetings. La Salle defeated Lehigh last season 66-54.
The Explorers have two players averaging double figures. Nicole Melious is leading the way with 10.9 points per game and Aryss Macktoon is next with 10.8 points per game.Â
