Mountain Hawks Excited to Compete at 48th Annual Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Coming off of its 17th consecutive victory over rival Lafayette, the Lehigh women's cross country team will return to the Goodman Campus Cross Country course for one of the biggest meets of the season: the Paul Short Run.Â
The Mountain Hawks entered their last meet with one goal: to beat Lafayette. Lehigh completed its goal, defeating Lafayette 23-34 with six student-athletes finishing in the top ten.Â
Leading the way for Lehigh was senior Maddie Zaun and first-year Lucy Afanasewicz. Zaun was the top-finisher for the Mountain Hawks, finishing second overall with a time of 22:19.20. In her second collegiate meet, Afansewicz finished second for Lehigh and third overall with a time of 22:21.10.Â
Following Zaun and Afanasewicz, the Mountain Hawks went on to claim fifth through seventh-place finishes to secure the victory at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course two weeks ago.Â
Senior Andrea Miller was the third-finisher for Lehigh. Miller finished the race in 22:34.40 to claim a fifth-place finish for the Mountain Hawks. Sophomore Savanah Beavers (22:37.60) and senior Annalise Davis (22:41.20) finished sixth and seventh, respectively.Â
At last year's Paul Short Run, the Mountain Hawks finished 21st overall with graduate Jade Sessions, junior Christina Yakaboski and sophomore Maddison Hayes serving as the top three finishers for Lehigh.Â
The 48th annual Paul Short Run will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the men's open 8k. The Mountain Hawks will kick off the annual event at 11:45 a.m. with the women's gold 6k. The live results link can be found above.
