Humphreys, Wood Grab Top 10 Seeds As NCAA Brackets Unveiled

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh's seven NCAA qualifiers learned their seeds and first round opponents as seeds and first round opponents as seeds and brackets for next week's NCAA Championships in Detroit were announced Wednesday.

Senior Jordan Wood (285) and junior Josh Humphreys (157) led the way for the Mountain Hawks, as both grapplers captured top 10 seeds.

Wood, coming off a record fifth straight EIWA title last weekend, is the highest seeded Lehigh wrestler as he earned the No. 6 seed. His first round opponent is No. 27 Michael Wolfgram of West Virginia.

Humphreys earned the No. 7 seed at 157 and a first round matchup with Ben Barton of Lock Haven, which will be a rematch from Dec. 4 when Humphreys defeated Barton by fall.

Sophomore Brian Meyer earned the third-highest seed among Lehigh wrestlers as he is seeded 17th at 165. Meyer is slated to open against No. 16 Luke Weber of North Dakota State.

Malyke Hines will be the first Mountain Hawk on the mats next Thursday in Detroit. After earning an at-large berth at 133, Hines is the No. 27 seed and will open with sixth seeded Dylan Ragusin of Michigan.

At 141, Connor McGonagle is seeded 29th for his second NCAA appearance. He is paired up with No. 4 Real Woods of Stanford.

True first-year Max Brignola earned the No. 22 seed at 149 and a first round matchup with No. 11 Bryce Andonian of Virginia Tech.

Rounding out the list of Lehigh's seven qualifiers is sophomore AJ Burkhart, who is seeded 31st at 184. Burkhart will face No. 2 seed Aaron Brooks of Penn State, the defending champion, in the first round.

Action at the 91st NCAA Championships begins Thursday March 17 from Little Caesars Arena in Detroit and runs through Saturday March 19.There will be no Lehigh audio coverage of this year's tournament but the entire tournament will be televised on the ESPN family of networks with streaming video of every mat available on WatchESPN and the ESPN App. The schedule for this year's championship is listed below.
