Mountain Hawks Conclude Regular Season at Bucknell on Friday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh will head to its final tune-up before the Patriot League Championships at Bucknell next weekend. The men's track and field team will conclude the indoor season at the Bucknell Tune-Up at Gerhard Fieldhouse on Friday.Â
The Mountain Hawks are coming off of several impressive performances at the Rutgers Open and Monmouth Invitational. Leading the way for Lehigh was senior Kyle Burke and first-year Jonathan Bennett. The duo broke two school records at the two-day meet in New York City.Â
Bennett has been chasing a school record since his first collegiate meet at Lehigh. On Saturday, he was finally able to claim it, finishing the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.12
On Friday at the Rutgers Open, Burke broke his third school record of the year, finishing the mile with a time of 4:05.00. On top of his school record, Burke grabbed a first place finish in the 800m with a time of 1:51.44. He is currently second all-time in Lehigh history for the 800m.Â
Burke was not the only Mountain Hawk to grab a spot on the top 10 all-time list. Junior Jake Martinez is now seventh all-time in the 800m. Martinez finished fifth at the Rutgers Open with a time of 1:53.14.Â
Connor Melko also grabbed a spot on the top 10 all-time list. The junior is now seventh all-time in the 3000m. He finished second at the Rutgers Open with a time of 8:17.95.Â
Lehigh will compete against Bucknell, Bloomsburg, Mansfield, Lafayette, Shippensburg, and Carnegie Mellon on Friday. The Bucknell Tune Up will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday with the women's weight throw, men's long jump, men's pole vault and women's high jump.Â
