Patriot League names Nole Rookie of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following a weekend with game-winning hits in both of Lehigh's victories over Navy, freshman Andrew Nole has been named Patriot League Rookie of the Week, announced by the league office Tuesday morning.
With the honor, the Mountain Hawks have earned all three weekly awards in one season for the first time since 2018. Nole is Lehigh's first Rookie of the Week since Mason Black won the award on April 22, 2019.
For the three-game series, Nole batted .500 (4-for-8) with two home runs and five RBIs, also scoring three runs with a double, a walk and hit by pitch. He slugged 1.375 and reached base at a .600 clip.
In the first game of Saturday's doubleheader in Annapolis, Nole went 2-for-3 with two home runs and three RBIs to lead the Mountain Hawks to a 5-1 victory. On Sunday, Nole had the go-ahead two run single to help Lehigh battle back and win the ballgame, 3-1 as the team won a regular season series over the Midshipmen for the first time since 2006.
Nole has come on strong in the middle of the season as the Mountain Hawks' main option at designated hitter, breaking through in the middle of the order. In 11 games, he is currently hitting .304, slugging .696 with a .429 on-base percentage.
Junior right-hander Mason Black was named an honorable mention by the league after his second consecutive complete game, a seven-inning gem in a 5-1 win over Navy where he fanned 10 batters, allowing just one run, none earned with four hits and two walks.
Black has struck out 10 or more batters in four of his six starts this season. He is now 3-1 with a 1.78 ERA and is holding batters to a .200 batting average so far.
The Mountain Hawks have added a mid-week battle with archrival Lafayette on Wednesday. Lehigh will host the Leopards at 3 p.m. from J. David Walker Field at Legacy Park. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
