BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's basketball team remains on the road this Friday, eying its first win of the season, when the Mountain Hawks head to Merrimack to face the Warriors. Gametime at Lawler Arena is set for 7 p.m. on NEC Front Row. Last time out, Lehigh had a strong start and finish at Monmouth, but a tough stretch from the end of the first half until the beginning of the second was the difference in an 85-75 defeat. The Mountain Hawks are set to face Merrimack for the first time in program history.

For fans attending Friday's game, please note Merrimack's spectator protocols, in which all spectators must verify that they are fully vaccinated in order to gain access to campus and attend athletic events. For more information, please click here.

Lehigh trailed by as much as 20 on Tuesday, but chipped the deficit down to just four in the final two minutes following an Evan Taylor basket. However, Monmouth responded on the other end and hit enough free throws down the stretch to wrap up the victory. Junior Jeameril Wilson was the story, tying career highs in points (20) and assists (4), shooting 8-of-10 from the field, 2-of-3 from 3-point range and 2-of-2 from the free throw line. He also added six rebounds, a steal and block. Wilson finished a game-high plus-16 in plus/minus on the evening.  Fourteen of Wilson's points came in the first half, while 11 of Taylor's 14 points came in the second half. Fifth-year senior Marques Wilson also scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half. Sophomore Dominic Parolin added 10 points and seven rebounds.

Turnovers continued to haunt Lehigh on Friday, but after 13 in the first half, the Mountain Hawks had just six in the second - helping them nearly complete the comeback. Lehigh shot well from the floor, knocking down 49.1 percent of its field goal attempts (27-of-55), including 35.0 percent from long range (7-of-20).

Merrimack is in just its third Division I season, but has excelled from the beginning - winning the NEC Regular Season Title in its first season of 2019-20. The Warriors also beat Northwestern out of the Big Ten in only their second Division I game. Following Friday, the Mountain Hawks return home for two of their next three, three of their next five and five of their next eight to round out nonleague play.

Merrimack stands 2-2 on the young season, beginning with two straight wins - vs. Emerson (77-48) and at NJIT (61-54) before falling at Rutgers (48-35) and at Army West Point (74-51). The Warriors are in just their third season of Division I, but impressed from day one. In Merrimack's second DI game, it picked up a 71-61 win at Northwestern of the Big Ten and finished 20-11 (14-4 in conference), winning the NEC Regular Season (but the Warriors weren't eligible for the postseason due to the transition to DI). Jordan Miner leads the Warriors in scoring (11.3 points per game) while Mykel Derring is second (9.8) and Mikey Watkins not far behind (9.5). Ziggy Reid leads Merrimack in rebounding (5.8 per game).

Friday will mark the first-ever meeting between Lehigh and Merrimack.

Following Friday's game, the Mountain Hawks return home to host Columbia on Tuesday at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
