Clougherty named Patriot League Player of the Week

First Mountain Hawk since 2017-18 to win award
BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Lehigh women's basketball senior guard Mary Clougherty was named Patriot League Player of the Week, announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.
She becomes the first Mountain Hawk to be named Player of the Week since Gena Grundhoffer on Feb. 26, 2018. She's just the fourth different player to win the award since 2014-15.
Clougherty had one weekend to remember, kicking off the 2020-21 season in style with not one, but two 20 or more point games, both victories over archrival Lafayette.
On Saturday, the Herndon, Va. native scored 23 points to go along with five 3-pointers, five rebounds, four assists, a block and a steal. On Sunday, Clougherty scored 20 points on four 3-pointers with three rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Through two games, Clougherty leads the nation and Patriot League in 3-pointers made per game (4.5) and is second in the Patriot League in points per game (21.5).
Clougherty enters the 2020-21 season as the Mountain Hawks' most important option off the bench, a role she has thrived in over the years, appearing in 92 career games off the bench wearing brown and white. She is marching towards entering the Top 10 all-time in made 3-pointers at Lehigh currently at 92, just eight away from passing former teammate and current assistant coach Bernadette Devaney for 10th in program history.
The senior will look to keep things going this upcoming weekend when the Mountain Hawks face American for two games, one in Washington, D.C. on Saturday and one in Bethlehem on Sunday, both streamed live on ESPN+.
