Sexe, Kramer sweep Patriot League weekly awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After sweeping the weekend slate of games with Holy Cross, the Lehigh women's basketball team also swept the weekly slate of awards as senior forward Mariah Sexe was named Patriot League Player of the Week and freshman guard Mackenzie Kramer was named Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. The awards, voted on by league SIDs and media, were announced on Tuesday afternoon.
For Sexe, her first career weekly award nod comes following her 83rd career appearance with the Mountain Hawks. She had far and wide the best two-game stretch of her career so far starting with a career-high 25 points on Saturday in a win over the Crusaders, going 12-for-19 (63.2 percent) and had 10 rebounds, four of which were offensive, completing her first career double-double.
In Sunday's victory over Holy Cross at Stabler Arena, Sexe had 16 points with nine rebounds and two assists. Her previous career-high for points was 14, smashing that total in back-to-back games. For the weekend, she averaged 20.5 points and 9.5 rebounds while shooting 65.5 percent (19-for-29) from the field.
Lehigh previously had a Player of the Week earlier this season in senior guard Mary Clougherty after a standout opening weekend against Lafayette. Clougherty and Sexe mark the first time since the 2014-15 season that two players were named Player of the Week in the same season with Kerry Kinek and Lexi Martins.
Kramer showed flashes of her brilliance in Saturday's win over Holy Cross, scoring 12 points on four 3-pointers with three assists. She scored five points on Sunday and went 3-for-3 from the foul line in the victory. This is Kramer's second Rookie of the Week honor of the season so far and becomes the first Mountain Hawk since Emma Grothaus in 2018-19 to win it twice in one season.
With four weekly awards combined this season, this is the first time since the 2014-15 season that the program won at least four in one season after Kinek and Martins each won Player of the Week once and Quinci Mann was Rookie of the Week three times.
After previously having the games postponed, the Mountain Hawks' weekend set with Bucknell is back on as scheduled with a 2 p.m. matchup planned for Saturday afternoon in Lewisburg and a 4 p.m. tip-off set for Sunday at Stabler Arena. Both games will be streamed live on ESPN+.
