BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Two members of the Lehigh men's lacrosse team have garnered their first-career Patriot League weekly awards, as announced on Monday, with sophomore Antony Tangredi winning Defensive Player of the Week and freshman Christian Mule' garnering Rookie of the Week. Tangredi and Mule' helped the Mountain Hawks to their fourth straight victory, topping Holy Cross 15-10. Lehigh has now won three awards over the last two weeks, following junior James Spence's Goalie of the Week honor last Monday.
Saturday saw another stellar effort from Tangredi, who posted three groundballs and a career-high five caused turnovers. He finished with two caused turnovers in the first and third quarters, and all three groundballs in the fourth. After allowing four goals over the game's first 8:24, Tangredi and the Mountain Hawks' defense allowed just six over the final 51:36. Lehigh held Holy Cross scoreless for a stretch of 21:12 bridging the third and fourth quarters during Lehigh's 7-0 run that turned a 9-7 deficit into a 14-9 lead. Tangredi leads the Mountain Hawks in caused turnovers this season with 16, which is also among the national leaders.
Meanwhile, Mule' tallied his third straight hat trick in Saturday's victory, scoring three goals on just four shots, all coming in the game's final 17:49. He also added two groundballs. Mule' scored twice in Lehigh's 7-0 run that turned a 9-7 deficit into a 14-9 lead. For the season, Mule' is third on the Mountain Hawks in goals (16) and points (21).
Sophomore Tommy Schelling also received honorable mention recognition following four goals and three assists against the Crusaders. Six of the seven points came in the second half.
The No. 18 Mountain Hawks now hit the road on Saturday for a big matchup at No. 15 Army West Point in a rematch of the 2019 Patriot League Championship Game.
