
Trio of Mountain Hawks named Academic All-League

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – A trio of student-athletes on the Lehigh Track and Field teams were named Academic All-League, as announced by the Patriot League on Friday. Susie Poore was the lone Mountain Hawk given the honor on the women's side, while Joey Kelly and Kyle Sult were named from the men's team.
Poore, majoring in Political Science accumulated a perfect 4.0 GPA. At last weekend's Indoor Patriot League Championships, Poore finished third in the 5000m, while then tallying a sixth-place finish in the 3000m. Poore performed well all season long for the Mountain Hawks, winning the 3000m at the Monmouth Winter Collegiate Invitational and 5000m at the Bruce Lehane Invit. at Boston University. Poore is a three-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
On the men's side, Sult was named Academic All-League for the second straight year, as he was given the award a season ago. Competing in the heptathlon at last weekend's Patriot League Championships, the senior held a lead after the first day, recording PRs in three of the four events, however wound up finishing fourth overall. Sult finished third in the pole vault at the Bucknell Tune-Up, while finishing fifth in the 60mH at the Monmouth Winter Collegiate Invitational. The senior is also a three-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. Sult notched a 3.86 GPA, majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
Kelly makes his first appearance on the Academic Honor Roll. Majoring in Bioengineering, Kelly accumulated a 3.76 GPA. The senior excelled in both the classroom and the track, as he finished first and took gold in the pole vault at the 2020 Indoor Patriot League Championships. Kelly also took first in the pole vault at the Monmouth Winter Collegiate Invitational and a second-place finish at the Villanova Invitational.
These three bright student-athletes will look to lead the Mountain Hawks in the Outdoor portion of their schedule. Lehigh opens at the Penn Challenge on Saturday, March 21.
