
Mountain Hawks drop first match of the season; Fall to Drexel, 4-3

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the first time this year, the Lehigh men's tennis team (2-1) suffered a defeat. The Mountain Hawks and the Drexel Dragons battled closely in a tight contest. Ultimately, the Dragons topped the Brown and White, 4-3.
Things started off great for Lehigh with obtaining the doubles point. Lehigh managed to tally two wins in doubles in thanks to the teams of Gary Fishkin and Jacob Edelchik, as well as Andrew Nakhjavan and Steven Nazaroff. In the No. 2 spot, Fishkin and Edelchik came through in the clutch with a 7-6 win. Then in the No. 3 spot, Nakhjavan and Nazaroff secured the point with a 6-3 win.
Despite obtaining the doubles point, the Mountain Hawks couldn't manage to tackle three more wins to register the win.
In the No. 1 spot, Zack Elliott continued to prove why he is one of the best in the Patriot League. The junior took down Sanil Jagtiani in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2. Then in the No. 3 spot, the sophomore Fishkin also won in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6.
In the No. 2 spot, Harry Wang dropped a tough three- setter to Xandy Hammitt. Wang took the first set, 6-4, but then dropped the next two sets. Freshman Matt Kleiman fought toe-to-toe with his opponent, Gustav Wogen. In the end, Wogen tackled with win with a straight set victory, 7-6, 6-4.
Up next, the Mountain Hawks will set off on the first road trip next weekend. The Brown and White will play at Villanova next Saturday, while then competing at the Delaware Blue Hens on Sunday.
