BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh head men's lacrosse coach Kevin Cassese announced the Mountain Hawks' 2021 team captains on Wednesday, featuring a pair of second-year captains (graduate student Andrew Eichelberger and senior Teddy Leggett) and a first-time captain (senior Matt Douglas). Eichelberger and Leggett were both captains during the shortened 2020 season.

"I am excited to announce Andrew, Teddy, and Matt as team captains ahead of our 2021 campaign," said Cassese. "I look forward to working with these three and all of our upperclassmen as we get set to embark on a very unique season with a very unique set of circumstances. Strong leadership will be a necessity and these three men and their classmates possess exactly that."

Eichelberger finished last season fourth on the Mountain Hawks in goals (9) and fifth in points (15), starting all six games. Included was a career high four goals in a win over Navy. As a junior in 2019, the midfielder was named second team All-Patriot League, starting all 17 games with 18 goals and three assists. Eichelberger enters 2020 with 45 career goals and 12 assists.

Leggett was named second team All-League following his freshman and sophomore seasons (no All-Patriot League honors were awarded last year). The long-stick midfielder finished 2020 with 26 groundballs and five caused turnovers, good for second and third on the Mountain Hawks, respectively. Leggett was a preseason All-League honoree last year and enters 2021 with 166 career groundballs (already seventh in program history) and 48 caused turnovers. Leggett's 79 groundballs in 2019 were tied for sixth in program history for a season.

Douglas has made a significant impact from day one, tallying 18 groundballs and six caused turnovers as a freshman. He then posted 37 groundballs and four caused turnovers as a sophomore, and 10 groundballs and four caused turnovers in just two games in 2020 (including six groundballs and a career-high three caused turnovers at defending national champion Virginia). Douglas has played both long-stick midfield and close defense in his career.
