Lehigh set to visit Army West Point Saturday afternoon

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — A four-game losing streak isn't something that is synonymous with Lehigh women's basketball as of late, but the Mountain Hawks (13-7, 5-4 Patriot) haven't been as sharp as they would like to during this stretch of time, after starting the league slate off with a perfect 5-0 record.
Lehigh is now 5-4 and in fifth place in the Patriot League and is looking to get back on track against another struggling team in Army (5-15, 1-8 Patriot)
The Mountain Hawks are coming off a disappointing loss to American at Stabler on Wednesday night, where the Mountain Hawks led early in the first quarter before being outscored 20-4 in the second quarter, fighting to take the lead back in the third before losing control in fourth to drop their fourth straight outing.
Camryn Buhr was the only player to make it to double-figures in scoring, finishing with 10 points and a single rebound shy of a double-double with nine. Both Frannie Hottinger and Cameryn Benz managed to score eight points each, while Hannah Hedstrom finished with six points and five assists and Clair Steele made four steals.
The last two losses for Lehigh have been like that, losing in the same fashion to archrival Lafayette last Saturday, although it never was fortunate enough to re-take a lead late in the game.
A rarity this season, the Mountain Hawks dropped their first game of the season in which they out-rebounded an opponent, going 9-0 in those games prior to Wednesday's contest. Lehigh grabbed 37 boards as opposed to just 27 for AU.
Like Lehigh, Army West Point is also currently on a four-game losing streak and is currently sitting in last place in the Patriot League standings at 1-8.
The Black Knights are coming off a performance in which they were routed by Bucknell, 77-46 in Lewisburg.
Three Army players scored in double-figures, led by Lindsay Scamman with 14 points, Alisa Fallon with 11 and Natalie Stralkus 10. The Black Knights shot just 34.6 percent (18-for-52) from the field and 19 percent (4-for-21) from beyond-the-arc.
The Black Knights have struggled to score this season and get any sort of advantage against their opponents. They are currently ranked last in scoring defense, allowing a league-high 71.7 points per game, but reside in the middle of the pack for scoring offense at 61.3 points per contest. The team is 3-6 at home this season and 2-9 away from Christl Arena.
On this current four-game slide, Army West Point has kept games reasonably close despite the outlier from the Bucknell contest. The Cadets fell by 12 points at Navy, five points vs. Lafayette and by nine at Loyola.
Army went 4-7 in non-league play this season with victories over Air Force, Fairleigh Dickinson, LIU and Bryant.
Like other Patriot League opponents, the matchup between Army and Lehigh goes way back, all the way to the 1983-84 season with Patriot League play kicking off in 1991.
The Black Knights lead the all-time series, 35-33, but the Mountain Hawks have taken the last two matchups between the two teams, sweeping the season series in 2018-19.
Lehigh last took down Army at home last February, getting the victory on Legends Weekend where the Brown and White honored Erica Prosser's 11' No. 21 jersey and sent it to the rafters. The Mountain Hawks picked up a 55-46 victory behind 14-point performances from Camryn Buhr and Clair Steele.
Saturday's game will be streamed live on the Patriot League Network with a live audio stream available through Lehighsports.com with Matt Markus on the Play-by-Play call.
