BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's basketball team will look to rebound from a heartbreaking loss on Wednesday when the Mountain Hawks return home to host Lafayette on Saturday in the latest edition of The Rivalry on the hardwood. Opening tipoff is set for 12 p.m. on Diversity and Inclusion Day presented by Lehigh University's Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity. The game can be seen locally on Service Electric 2 Sports and online through the Patriot League Network. Despite dropping three straight, the Mountain Hawks (2-5 in league play) are only a game behind the Leopards entering Saturday's contest and still only two games out of fourth place, very much in the thick of things.

Saturday is also part of the Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers Week, as coaches around the nation will wear sneakers with their suits to increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living through year-round awareness efforts, fundraising activities and advocacy programs. In addition, several members of the Mountain Hawks' 2010 Patriot League Championship team will be in attendance and will be recognized, 10 years after capturing the league title and NCAA Tournament berth.

The present-day Mountain Hawks will look to rebound from one of their tougher defeats in recent memory. Lehigh led by 11 at the half and 17 with 14:23 left in the second half, but Holy Cross used hot shooting to get back into the game and force overtime where the Crusaders were victorious, 96-95.  Holy Cross knocked down 11 of its final 14 3-pointers of the game (spanning the end of the first half, entire second half and overtime) to finish 14-of-25 on the evening (56.0).

Wednesday marked the second straight season that Lehigh at Holy Cross went to an extra session. Last year, the script was flipped as the Mountain Hawks erased an 18-point first-half deficit to win 99-94. In that game, Lance Tejada scored 36 points while on Wednesday, senior Jordan Cohen scored a career-high 34. He scored 30 of those points after halftime, finishing the game 11-of-18 from the field and 4-of-6 from 3-point range, along with five rebounds, five assists and three steals. It marked Cohen's third-career game with 30+ points. One of them was in the last meeting between Lehigh and this Saturday's opponent, Lafayette, when Cohen scored 21 of the Mountain Hawks' final 30 points, all coming in the stretch of 7:58. He finished that game with a then career-high 33 points. Wednesday's effort at Holy Cross moved Cohen into 25th in program history for career scoring (currently 1,153).

Junior Marques Wilson and freshman Evan Taylor scored 17 points apiece on Wednesday, each scoring 13 in the first half and each shooting 7-of-12 from the field. Taylor's point total marked a career high. He also grabbed seven rebounds while Wilson had six. Sophomore Nic Lynch added 12 points and seven boards. Freshman Reed Fenton scored two points and dished a career-high five assists. As a team, the Mountain Hawks were 10-of-20 from 3-point range themselves (50.0 percent), with Taylor, Cohen and Wilson going 9-for-14 by themselves. The second half saw the Mountain Hawks shoot 66.7 percent from the field (18-of-27) while the Crusaders shot 62.1 percent (18-of-29).

The loss continued Lehigh's road struggles, but the Mountain Hawks return home Saturday when they have had some success (owning a 4-3 record). Following Saturday's game, Lehigh has a quick turnaround, playing at American on Monday night on CBS Sports Network.

Lafayette stands 11-7 on the season, going 8-3 in nonleague play and 3-4 in the Patriot League thus far. The Leopards recently won three straight games, capped off by handing defending league champion Colgate its first loss of the Patriot League season. However, since, the Leopards fell at Navy and at home against Army West Point. Justin Jaworski is leading the offense, averaging 16.7 points per game.  E.J. Stephens (11.8) and Myles Cherry (11.2) are also averaging double-figure points, while Cherry is leading the team in rebounding (6.7). Lafayette stands second in the Patriot League in scoring offense (72.6), fourth in scoring defense (69.6) and second in scoring margin (+3.0).

Lehigh has won eight straight games over Lafayette to pull within 139-90 in the all-time series. Last season, the Mountain Hawks pulled out a pair of tight victories, 86-83 at home then 93-86 in overtime at Lafayette. In the home contest, Lehigh knocked down an NCAA best 78.6 percent from three-point range (11-of-14) while missing just 21 shots all game (including free throws). Then a few weeks later in Easton, Cohen scored 14 of the Mountain Hawks' 18 points in overtime, to lead Lehigh to a 93-86 OT victory. Lehigh has won nine of the last 10 meetings overall, including five in a row at Lafayette. The Mountain Hawks' last defeat came on Feb. 22, 2015 at Lehigh by a 63-61 final. The long-time rivals first met in 1901-92, a 46-13 Lehigh victory. Lehigh won the first four games with Lafayette's first win coming in 1914-15.

The Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Equity was created with the hiring of the inaugural Vice President for Equity & Community in February of 2017.  The office is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive plan to enhance and build on Lehigh's efforts to advance its commitment to a more diverse and inclusive campus.  This is done through strategic planning, training, education and research, community relations, policy development and communications.  The office coordinates with all University assets, including students, staff, senior administrators, deans, department heads, trustees and local community leaders and groups.  The division is comprised of our University advocacy centers (the Center for Gender Equity, the Office of Multicultural Affairs, the Pride Center for Sexual Orientation & Gender Diversity, and the Chaplain's Office), Student Access and Success, and a Multicultural Community Liaison. Please visit http://diversity.lehigh.edu to learn about the rich and diverse community here at Lehigh and all it has to offer you.

Following Saturday's game, Lehigh has a quick turnaround when it travels to our nation's capital for a Monday night showdown at American. Opening tipoff is set for 7 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
