Lehigh beats Wagner 5-1 to move to 5-1, marking best start in 36 years

Lehigh has now won three straight games for the first time since 2004. It's also the first time the program has won five times in any six-game stretch since 1994. The Mountain Hawks have now scored 17 goals through six games, their most through six contests since 2004.
"It feels really good," said Lehigh head coach Caitlin Dallmeyer. "This team has worked so hard to have big moments like these. The best part about being part of a rebuilding program is that we get to have these successes and celebrate them. I'm really happy and I know the team is really happy."
For the second straight day, Lehman opened the scoring for Lehigh. On Saturday, it came in the game's final five minutes. On Sunday, it happened midway through the first quarter, burying a chance off a penalty corner.

The Mountain Hawks led 1-0 until deep into the second quarter, but Pecora quickly changed that. She scored two goals in 1:14, both coming off goalkeeper saves – putting home rebounds for her sixth and seventh goals of the season at the 25:36 and 26:50 marks, respectively.

"Drew's not the player she was her freshman year," said Dallmeyer. "Sitting a year out led to her improving her hockey IQ – since she was only able to watch – and really made her hungry to come back and perform. She performing so well. Every time she gets the ball, we think something's going to happen and we're all on our toes waiting for her to make a big move. She hasn't disappointed."
Wagner got on the board just 1:09 into the second half, but the Mountain Hawks answered. Havas scored her second goal of the season just 2:12 later to put Lehigh up 4-1. Off a corner, senior Amanda Boyer shuffled the pass to her left and Havas wouldn't be denied.

Perrone got onto the scoresheet later in the quarter, scoring her first of the season at the 41:09 mark for a 5-1 advantage, which proved to be the final.

Final shots were 26-8 in favor of Lehigh while the Mountain Hawks held an 11-1 edge in penalty corners. Freshman goalkeeper Maddie Kahn made four saves across a pair of Wagner goalkeepers, who combined for 14.
"I thought Amanda Boyer was phenomenal as a senior leader on the team," said Dallmeyer. "We moved her into a new position today and she was not only awesome on the field, but also awesome with her voice. That's something that we really need from our seniors and she did a fabulous job today."
The Mountain Hawks return to action next weekend when they travel to Holy Cross next Saturday (Sept. 28) and Bryant on Sunday (Sept. 29). The game against Bryant will be played at Brown University in Providence.
"We've got some things we need to continue to adjust going into Holy Cross, but we made some good adjustments from yesterday to today in how we wanted to play, so I'm really happy with where we are right now," said Dallmeyer.
