Swimming and Diving Teams Announce 2019-20 Season Captains

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- For the upcoming 2019-20 season, head coach Rob Herb announced that the Lehigh men's and women's swimming and diving teams will be led by five captains. The announcement of captains marks the first time the Mountain Hawks have been led by captains since the 2010-11 campaign.
The captains on the women's side includes seniors Tori Connolly and Payton Miles as well as junior Ann Foley.
Getting the honor on the men's side are seniors Tyler Christ and Walker Wilson.
Talking about his captains, Herb stated, "This group has the skill and motivation necessary to help their teammates to a great season. The coaching staff is excited to work with this group of captains."
Connolly was awarded Lehigh's Most Improved Swimmer at its annual banquet awards in April. The senior recorded a fifth-place finish at the Patriot League Championships in the difficult 1650 freestyle event with a time of 17:01.37.
Miles, a four-time Patriot League champion, holds Lehigh records in the 50 free (22.80), 100 free (50.54), 200 medley relay (1:43.14), 200 free relay (1:31,41) and the 400 free relay (3:19.78). The junior is a two-time First Team All-Patriot League and garnered Second Team All-Patriot League in 2019.
Foley was named a First Team All-Patriot League selection after winning the Patriot League Championships in the 50 freestyle and also swam on the Patriot League title-winning 200 freestyle relay team. In 2018, Foley was named Second Team All-Patriot League.
Christ, an Engineering major, is a Lehigh record holder in the 200 medley relay (1:29.83) and the 400 medley relay (3:19.13). The Reading native will enter his final season donning the Brown and White this fall.
Wilson was named Most Valuable Swimmer at the awards banquet in April. The captain from Richmond was named a Second Team All-Patriot League selection for the second straight year and claimed a bronze medal and school record in the 500 freestyle at the Patriot League Championships. Wilson also holds five school records for the Mountain Hawks in the 500 free (4:23.84), 1000 free (9:22.24), 1650 free (15:31.83), 200 back (1:48.93) and the 800 free relay (6:37.70).
Lehigh will kick-off its season with the Brown and White meet on September 20.
