BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh head field hockey coach Caitlin Dallmeyer announced the Mountain Hawks' 2019 schedule on Thursday, featuring 18 regular-season games – eight home and 10 on the road. The season kicks off on Friday, Aug. 30 at Rider, with the home opener set for the following Friday, Sept. 6 vs. Towson.
The Towson contest begins a three-game homestand, which also includes hosting Richmond out of the Atlantic 10 on Friday, Sept. 13, and welcoming Georgetown two days later on Sept. 15. Lehigh and Richmond haven't played since 1990, with the teams splitting the only two all-time meetings.
The Mountain Hawks hit the road for four straight, beginning with their Patriot League opener at Colgate on Saturday, Sept. 21. Lehigh has won three straight games against the Raiders, including a hard-fought 2-1 win last season. A day later, the Mountain Hawks travel to Wagner on Sunday, Sept. 22, Holy Cross on Saturday, Sept. 28 and Bryant on Sunday, Sept. 29.
October begins with home games vs. American on Saturday, Oct. 5 and LIU on Sunday, Oct. 6. Lehigh hits the road the following weekend, at Bucknell on Saturday Oct. 12 and Lock Haven on the 13th.
The Mountain Hawks return home for their only home game in more than three weeks when they welcome archrival Lafayette on Friday, Oct. 18. Last season, Lehigh took the Leopards to overtime for a second straight season, falling just short after winning in 2017. In the end, the Mountain Hawks scored multiple goals against the Leopards for the first time since Oct. 6, 2007 (13 games ago).
Lehigh hits late October with road games at Sacred Heart (Sunday, Oct. 20), Cornell (Wednesday, Oct. 23) and La Salle (Sunday, Oct. 27). The Mountain Hawks wrap up the regular season with consecutive home games, hosting Saint Louis on Saturday, Nov. 1, squaring off with the Billikens for the time in program history. Lehigh then welcomes Boston University for Senior Day on Sunday, Nov. 2.
The Patriot League Tournament is set for the following weekend.
