Kirshenbaum, Slavin named to Google Cloud Academic All-District Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Two members of the Lehigh men's cross country and track and field programs have been named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 2 team, announced Tuesday. Junior Jeffrey Kirshenbaum and sophomore Seth Slavin were two of 11 cross country and track and field athletes named to the All-District 2 team.
The Academic All-District teams voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) whose schools are in the region.
To be eligible for the award, individuals must be at least a sophomore, as well as a starter or key reserve on her team with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.30. CoSIDA's District 2 consists of schools in Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
This is the first Academic All-District honor for both Kirshenbaum and Slavin.
Kirshenbaum carries a 3.98 cumulative GPA as an economics major. He is a four-time Academic All-Patriot League honoree across cross country (2017 and 2018) and track and field (2018 indoor and outdoor) and has made regular appearances on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll across both cross country and track. The Norristown, Pa., native has posted 4.0 GPAs in four of his first six semesters at Lehigh,
Competitively, Kirshenbaum was second team All-Patriot League in cross country as a sophomore. In the 2018-19 school year, Kirshenbaum finished 22nd at the Patriot League cross country championship, scored in both the 5000m (5th) and the 3000m (8th) at the Patriot League indoor championship. Kirshenbaum finished fifth in the 10,000m at the Patriot League outdoor championships, and earned All-East distinction with a sixth place finish in the 10K at IC4As.
Slavin holds a 4.0 GPA through four semesters in Lehigh's rigorous electrical engineering program. He is a regular on Lehigh's Dean's List and has made the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll on three occasions, spanning cross country and track and field.
A Broadheadsville, Pa., native, Slavin finished 46th at the Patriot League Championships in cross country and competed in the 3000m and 5000m at the Patriot League indoor championships, setting a PR in the 3000m on the way to a 12th place finish. Slavin scored for the Mountain Hawks with an eighth place finish in the 10,000m at the Patriot League outdoor championships and earned a personal record in the 10K at the IC4A championships, where he finished 10th.
As first team Academic All-District honorees, Kirshenbaum and Slavin will now advance to the Academic All-America ballot, which will be voted upon and announced in June.
