
Lehigh enjoys success on shortened day one of Patriot League Championship

HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Lehigh men's golf team led the Patriot League Championship after one round before unsafe conditions suspended play in the middle of round two with the Mountain Hawks tied for sixth overall for the day. The championship is being played at the Seven Oaks Golf Club, hosted by Colgate. Lehigh shot 11 over par 299 in the first round, and now stands 19 over par heading into Sunday's action, but still very much within striking distance – seven strokes behind current leaders Bucknell and Lafayette at +12.

Freshman Michael Tanaka is currently leading the Mountain Hawks, tied for fourth overall –
shooting one over par for the day. He shot 73 in the first round to lead the way. Senior Max Redetzke is tied for 17th overall (five over par through Saturday's action, shooting 74 in round one) while junior Owen Quinn is tied for 22nd (six over par, 75).

Rounding out the day for Lehigh was senior Eamon Marone tied for 33rd (eight over par, 77), along with senior Lee Hammerschmidt (12 over par, 81) and junior Ryan Kelly (12 over par, 82) each tied for 46th.

The second and final day of the Patriot League Championship begins at 8 a.m. on Sunday as the teams finish round two, with student-athletes continuing from where they came off the course on Saturday. The third and final round will follow the conclusion of round two.
