Hedstrom named Academic All-Patriot League for second straight year

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh junior point guard Hannah Hedstrom has been named to the Academic All-Patriot League team for women's basketball, the league announced Tuesday. Hedstrom has been a leader on the floor for the Mountain Hawks and one of the team's top performers in the classroom. She earns Academic All-Patriot League honors for the second straight year.
To be eligible for the Academic All-Patriot League team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen, or students in their first academic year at their school, are not eligible for the honor.
A biology major, Hedstrom carries an impressive 3.96 cumulative GPA. Last month, Hedstrom was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 2 team. She is a two-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and was Lehigh women's basketball's Scholar-Athlete Award winner following her sophomore campaign. Hedstrom has made Lehigh's Dean's List with a GPA of 3.6 or better in each of her five semesters and owns three consecutive 4.0 semesters.
On the court, the Minnetonka, Minn., native has started all 30 games for the Mountain Hawks. She averages 4.2 points per game and leads the Mountain Hawks with 98 assists and 51 steals this season. Hedstrom also averages 5.2 rebounds per game to rank third on the team, and was named to the Patriot League All-Defensive Team at the conclusion of the regular season. She ranks in the top 10 in the league in assists and steals per game.
Hedstrom and the third-seeded Mountain Hawks will travel to Washington, D.C. to face No. 2 American Thursday in a Patriot League semifinal with game time set for 7 p.m. from Bender Arena.
