Jahn leads Lehigh at spring-opening Kiawah Island Spring Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND – The Lehigh women's golf team completed its first spring tournament by shooting a final round 312 Tuesday at the Oak Point Golf Club. The Mountain Hawks finished three-day event at 930 (606-612-612) and finished in 35th place out of 49 teams.
 
Senior Reagan Jahn led the way for the Mountain Hawks, tying for 28th place at three over par 219 (68-78-73). After shooting a program record 68 on Sunday, Jahn bounced back from a tough 78 Monday to shoot 73 in Tuesday's final round. Jahn made three birdies and was two under par through her first nine holes on Tuesday.
 
Lehigh's low scorer on Monday, senior Aileen Jeong shot 80 on Tuesday and finished in a tie for 113th place at 230 (74-76-80). Jeong matched Jahn by making three birdies in her final round.
 
Junior Minuette Laessig was Lehigh's second lowest player on Tuesday, shooting 78 to finish in a tie for 120th place at 231 (76-77-78). Laessig made one birdie in her final round.
 
Sophomore Angela Ding carded her second straight 81 to finish in 229th place at 252 (90-81-81). Her final round was highlighted by back-to-back birdies on 14 and 15.
 
Junior Rebecca Markunas tied for 237th place at 257 (88-87-82). Markunas' final round included a pair of birdies.
 
Coastal Carolina and North Florida tied for the team title at one over par 865, with third place Tulsa finishing seven strokes off the pace. Lehigh finished third among the five Patriot League schools in the field, trailing Boston University and Navy and finishing ahead of Richmond and Bucknell.
 
Sydney Shrader of North Florida was the individual medalist at nine under par 207 (72-68-67). She posted a one stroke victory.
 
The Mountain Hawks will head west for spring break and will return to action at the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational, hosted by Southern Utah, March 14-15 in St. George, Utah.
