Mountain Hawks complete second round of Kiawah Island Spring Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Day two of the Kiawah Island Spring Classic saw the Lehigh women's golf team switch over to the Osprey Point Golf Club. After shooting 306 Sunday at Oak Point, the Mountain Hawks carded a team score of 312 on Monday and at 618 sit in 29th place out of 49 teams entering Tuesday's final round.
Senior Reagan Jahn was the story of Sunday's opening round, where she shot a program record low round of 68. On Monday, Jahn shot 78, carding 12 pars and six bogeys to fall into a tie for 18th place at 146 (68-78).
Lehigh's low round Monday was turned in by senior Aileen Jeong, who made four birdies in a second round 76. Jeong was six over par for the day before birdieing her final two holes (11 and 12). She is tied for 53rd place at 150 (74-76).
Junior Minuette Laessig shot 77 on Monday, with a pair of birdies and sits in a tie for 101st place at 153 (76-77).
Lehigh's best improvement from round one to round two came from sophomore Angela Ding, who matched Jeong by making for birdies and improved from a 90 Sunday to an 81 Monday. Ding's 171 has her tied for 229th place.
Junior Rebecca Markunas rounds out the Lehigh contingent, sitting in a tie for 238th place at 175 (88-87).
North Florida leads the team race at 577 (293-284) after two rounds, with Coastal Carolina second at 581 and Delaware and host College of Charleston tied for third at 585. The Mountain Hawks remain third among the five Patriot League schools in the field.
Ramya Meenakshisundaram of South Florida and Amy Wooten of Western Carolina are tied for the individual lead at five under par 139. Sydney Shrader of North Florida is third, one stroke off the lead.
The Kiawah Island Spring Classic concludes Tuesday with the final round featuring a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m. Lehigh will play with Wyoming, Fairleigh Dickinson and Savannah College of Art and Design, going off holes 1, 2 and 3 on the Oak Point course.
