Rother named Patriot League Rookie of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — After an impressive showing in the first series of the season this past weekend, freshman catcher/designated hitter Casey Rother was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week, announced on Tuesday.
Rother made his first appearance as a member of the Mountain Hawks in two games as the DH against Duke on Saturday and Sunday. He finished the weekend hitting .500 (4-for-8) with a run and an RBI. He went 3-for-4 with an RBI single on Sunday in Lehigh's 4-3 loss to the Blue Devils.
After his two games, Rother also leads the team in slugging percentage (.500) and on-base percentage (.500).
"Casey did a tremendous job competing against some outstanding pitching," said head coach Sean Leary. "We are excited to see him build off this weekend."
Rother is the Mountain Hawks' first weekly award winner of the season and the first Rookie of the Week since Peter Woltersdorf won the award three times last season and Quinn McKenna was honored once.
Lehigh takes on Mount St. Mary's for four games this upcoming weekend on the road.
