BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The Lehigh women's basketball team is returning home to Stabler Arena for the final time in the 2019 calendar year, hosting Division II opponent Bloomsburg Tuesday night at 6 p.m.

Lehigh had two gut-wrenching defeats last weekend in Nassau, Bahamas during the inaugural Bahamas Hoopfest at the Baha Mar Resort, falling to Ball State on a last-second shot on Thanksgiving and then to Fordham on Saturday on a buzzer-beater that left 0.1 second on the clock.

The Mountain Hawks are 5-2 on the young season with just one non-league home game remaining on the schedule. Lehigh has four non-league contests left overall before Patriot League play starts up on Jan. 2 at Stabler Arena vs. Navy.

Lehigh had a mix of key scorers between the two games in the usual suspects, as Cameryn Benz scored 20 points and added 10 rebounds in a loss against Ball State, her second consecutive game with a double-double. Her performance was followed by a 12-point afternoon for Camryn Buhr, who dominated down the stretch and in clutch scenarios, giving the Mountain Hawks a chance to come away with a win against the Rams.

This past weekend was also a haven for first-time starters this season as both Emma Grothaus and Mariah Sexe made their 2019-20 debuts in the starting rotation. Sexe played very well right out of the gate vs. Fordham, scoring eight first half points.

Despite the recent outcomes, Lehigh is still holding opponents to an average of 55.9 points per game. One of the team's biggest bright spots, besides a swarming defense, has been sophomore Clair Steele's consistency at the free throw line. She is shooting 83.3 percent (20-for-24) from the charity stripe, the fourth-best average in the Patriot League as of right now.

Bloomsburg is coming off a home victory last Tuesday and has started the season 2-3 with an 0-2 record to kick off PSAC play so far.

The Huskies took down Holy Family, 67-62 on Nov. 26, led by Taylor Montana and McKenna Hayward and stellar shooting from the free throw line.

Montana scored a game-high 22 points and added 11 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. The frehman Hayward added 18 points off the bench, went 8-of-10 from the field and 2-of-4 from downtown with two rebounds and two steals in 26 minutes.

Bloomsburg shot 42.9 percent (24-for-56) from the field and went 17-for-21 from the charity stripe (81 percent).

The Huskies' matchup with Lehigh is an exhibition, hoping to prepare them for when regular season play resumes on Dec. 7 at home in PSAC matchup with Pitt-Johnstown.

In Bloomsburg's opening exhibition at Binghamton on Nov. 12, the Huskies fell, 75-40.

This will be Lehigh's fourth matchup all-time against the Huskies and the first since Jan. 13, 1981.

The Mountain Hawks have never lost to Bloomsburg since the series started in 1978, going 3-0 during that span. Lehigh is on a five-game winning streak against non-Division I teams, last beating Kutztown, 73-39 to open last season on Nov. 6, 2018 at Stabler Arena.

Tuesday night's game will be streamed live on the Patriot League Network with coverage beginning at 6 p.m. You can purchase tickets online, at the box office or by calling 610-7LU-GAME.
