BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following a strong season on the field and continued success in the classroom, Lehigh women's soccer senior Mary Casey has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America Thursday. Casey was named to the District 2 team and is now eligible for Academic All-America recognition. Casey was one of four Patriot League student-athletes named Academic All-District, along with two from Navy and one from American.

Casey is Lehigh's first Academic All-District honoree since Amanda Stratton in 2017, and only ninth student-athlete in program history to receive the honor. Paige Elliott received it twice, in 2014 and 2015.

Casey owns a 3.87 cumulative GPA as a biology major. Named the Mountain Hawks' Scholar-Athlete of the Year following last season, she has been named to the Dean's List all six semesters of her career. Casey has also earned a spot on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and garnered the Faculty Athletics Council Award. A two-sport athlete at Lehigh, Casey was named Academic All-Patriot League last spring for outdoor track and field.

On the soccer field, Casey was a key starter in the back for the Mountain Hawks, helping lead a defense that posted eight shutouts (currently second in the Patriot League). She was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week following Lehigh's first-ever win over Boston University. Late in the first half, Casey scored the game's only goal (the first of her career) and helped anchor a defense that shut-out the defending Patriot League champs.

The Mountain Hawks ended their season 5-8-5 (3-5-1 in league play), falling just shy of their fourth straight Patriot League Tournament despite actually finishing with one more point than they did last year when they advanced to the league championship game. Two of Lehigh's three league victories came against teams who combined for the last six Patriot League Championships (Boston University and Bucknell) while the third was a 1-0 victory over Holy Cross to hand the Crusaders their first (and still only) Patriot League defeat.
