Â
"Princeton was the better team today," said Lehigh head coach Eric Lambinus. "We didn't react as well as I would have liked. They just looked a little bit quicker and faster. We didn't really come out with the same energy and intensity as we had on Saturday (vs. Boston University). Also, credit Princeton; when we didn't have a good moment, they made us pay."
Â
The Tigers scored both their first-half goals off free kicks, the first coming directly off the kick and the second seeing a pass into the box and a header into the back of the net.
Â
The Mountain Hawks gained some momentum later in the stanza. Senior Sidonie Warnecker fired Lehigh's first two shots of the game, both on goal, in the 17th and 22nd minutes. Â

In the 29th minute following the Mountain Hawks' first corner of the game, sophomore Erin Keefe served the ball into a dangerous position in the box, but Lehigh couldn't get a shot through.

Later in the half, freshman Julianna Bonner fired three shots in the span of 1:26, including the final one on goal, but Princeton goalkeeper Grace Barbara made the stop.
Â
Less than five minutes into the second half, the Tigers opened a 3-0 advantage. Like the first half, Princeton controlled much of the play, but the Mountain Hawks had their fair share of strong moments. In the 56th minute, junior Grace Forsyth's header was stopped by Barbara.
Â
Then, after Princeton's fourth goal in the 76th minute, a strike from distance, junior Miranda Royds made saves in the 77th and 79th minutes. Lehigh ended the contest with four of the game's final five shots, two from sophomore Rebecca Van Siclen and one from junior Chloe Tremblay who was seeing her first action of the season.
Â
"You turn momentum by executing and putting the ball in the back of the net," said Lambinus. "I have confidence we can score and create chances. It's about the execution in those moments. Today, Princeton was better than us in those moments."
Â
Final shots were 25-13 in favor of Princeton while the Tigers held a 4-2 edge in corner kicks. Royds finished with six saves across Barabara, who made five.

The Mountain Hawks will return home on Saturday to host Holy Cross at 1 p.m. on Senior Day. Prior to opening kickoff, Lehigh Athletics will recognize the six members of the Mountain Hawks' senior class.
"Holy Cross is going to come out ready to play," said Lambinus. "They're very good defensively; they've been shutting teams down. We have to find a way to find a way to be a little bit better than them. I'm expecting it to be a great game.
Â
"I'm expecting us to have a really good reaction. We've had a lot of good reactions this season. I'm hoping we can do it again on Saturday."
