BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Coming off an 85-74 win at Navy, the Lehigh men's basketball team returns home on Saturday to host Boston University as part of Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers Week. Opening tipoff is set for 2 p.m. on Service Electric 2 Sports and the Patriot League Network. On Wednesday, the Mountain Hawks improved to 6-0 after a loss this season, taking a six-point halftime lead and pulling away late in the second.

As part of Suits and Sneakers Week, Coaches and staff across the nation wear sneakers with their suits during games to raise awareness and help save lives by raising funds and encouraging people to educate themselves about cancer prevention, screening and early detection. Fans are encouraged to take part in the initiative, while donations will also be accepted in the Stabler Arena lobby, with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.
Lehigh shot a season-worst 26.9 percent from three-point range on Wednesday, but compensated by hitting 20 of its 31 two-pointers (64.5 percent) and 24-of-26 free throws (92.3 percent). Five Mountain Hawks scored double-figure points for the second time in the last three games, led by a game-high 22 points (13 in the first half) from senior Lance Tejada. Tejada finished 5-of-11 from three-point range, while adding three rebounds, two assists and a career-high four steals. Junior Pat Andree tallied 16 points and a career-high six assists (previous career high was three), senior Kyle Leufroy posted 15 points, six rebounds and three assists, sophomore James Karnik had 14 points (12 in the second half) and five rebounds, while sophomore Caleb Bennett scored a career-high 12 points. Bennett added three rebounds, three assists and a steal. Leufroy moved into 21st place in school history for career points and now needs just 11 more to move into sole possession of 20th.

The Midshipmen held two early leads of 1-0 and 6-5, then later 17-16, but the Mountain Hawks would lead the rest of the way. Lehigh's lead reached as much as eight in the first half, Navy pulled within two (including with less than two minutes until halftime), but Lehigh ended the stanza on a 5-0 run, including a Tejada trey as the first half expired, to take a 40-34 halftime advantage. Navy cut the Mountain Hawks' lead to one (56-55) midway through the second half, but Lehigh answered with 23 of the next 30 points to open its largest lead, 78-63, with 3:40 remaining, on the way to the 85-74 final.  The Mountain Hawks scored 80 points for the 10th time in the last 12 games, improving their season average to 80.4.

Lehigh's defense impressed, forcing 20 Navy turnovers, the first time the Mountain Hawks' D forced 20+ since Monmouth had 27 turnovers on Nov. 14, 2017. Lehigh's 11 steals were a season high and most since Nov. 19, 2017 vs. Eastern University, also most against a Division I opponent since Nov. 11, 2017 at Marist.

Wednesday's win snapped a two-game losing streak against Navy and improved Lehigh's road record in league play to 2-1. The win came at Navy's Alumni Hall, where the Mids have home wins against Holy Cross and Colgate. Lehigh is now 5-2 in Patriot League play, tied for second in the standings (with Army West Point) and one game behind Bucknell at 6-1. The Mountain Hawks return home on Saturday looking to avenge last season's Patriot League Quarterfinal defeat vs. Boston University.

Boston University stands 9-11 on the season, 2-5 in Patriot League play having lost three straight and five of its last seven. Most recently, the Terriers dropped a 70-66 final at home vs. American. Boston University's league wins are at home vs. Bucknell and at Navy. Max Mahoney leads the team in scoring (17.4) and rebounding (6.4) while two others are averaging double-figure points - Tyler Scanlon (12.5) and Javante McCoy (10.5). Boston University is shooting 47.7 percent from the field, while holding opponents to 45.0 percent shooting.

The teams have split each of the last four meetings, with Boston University winning the most recent contest during last year's Patriot League Quarterfinals. Prior to that 88-82 final, the Mountain Hawks picked up a hard-fought 80-75 win in Stabler less than a month prior. The year prior, Lehigh earned a hard-fought 91-88 double overtime win at Boston University in the Patriot League Semifinals. Boston University won the first-ever meeting between the two sides in 1968-69 by an 81-56 final. It marked the only meeting between the two schools before the Patriot League era.

After Saturday, the Mountain Hawks travel to rival Lafayette next Wednesday to face the Leopards at 8:30 p.m.
