
Women's XC Gets Set For 45th Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's cross country team continues its season with the historic Paul Short Run hosted by the Mountain Hawks on the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course this Saturday.
This will be the 45th edition of the Paul Short Run, presented by ASICS, this Saturday, September 29. The Paul Short Run is the largest intercollegiate cross country meet in the nation with approximately 6,000 athletes from nearly 450 colleges and high schools slated to compete this year. The day-long event includes 14 races (six college, six high school and two open races) beginning at 9:30 a.m. with the men's open race and concludes with the girls' high school JV race at 5:45 p.m.
Lehigh sees another week being ranked in the Mid-Atlantic region, as they sit 12th in the region. Other Patriot League teams ranked in the region are Bucknell (8), Navy (10) and American (13). Villanova sees another week atop the rankings.
Lehigh will be competing in the College Gold Race this Saturday, which will feature nationally ranked h Utah State (14) as the lone national ranked squad along with regionally ranked Penn, Richmond, Lehigh, Vermont, New Hampshire, Georgia and Columbia to name a few.
Coming off a challenging meet in Boston, Mass., where Lehigh placed 18th, the Mountain Hawks will compete in their lone home meet of the year. Junior Diana Hammerstone was the fastest runner for the Mountain Hawks with a 75th place finish with a time of 18:21. Fellow junior Ashleigh Crawford was next across the finish line with a 91st place finish with a time of 18:35.
In last year's race, Lehigh placed 17th out of 42 teams, with Senior Maura Henderson placing 52nd with an overall time of 20:52. Hannah Bonaguidi followed behind Henderson with an 88th place finish and a final time of 21:09.
