Mountain Hawks Notch 20th Consecutive Win Over Lafayette In Annual Dual Meet
9/15/2018 3:27:00 PM | Men's Cross Country
EASTON, Pa. – Lehigh men's cross country showed great prowess as they defeated Lafayette in the annual dual meet for the 20th straight year, as they dispatched the Leopards 15-50 for the historic victory.
Dating back to 1990, Lehigh now holds a 24-5 edge over Lafayette.
"I was very pleased with how we did today. There was no one runner stand out, and that's what makes really strong teams in cross country," said head coach Todd Etters after the win. "We had taken the top-12 spots with a spread of about four seconds when you have a pack of strong runners at the front of the race good things are going to happen."
Brian Arita took control of the race, as he finished first overall with a time of 26:58.22. Lehigh was in complete control of the meet, as the Mountain Hawks took the top-12 finishes. Matt Kravitz came in second with a time of 26:58.62 and Kip Yegon took third place with a time of 26:59.06.
Up next for the Mountain Hawks is the Coast-To-Coast Battle In Beantown in Boston, Mass. on Friday, September 21.
"The one good thing is that we don't really know what type of team we have," said Etters "There's still a level of excitement that goes with the idea that we might not have run our hardest yet, and we're excited to be able to do that next week."
