Mountain Hawks Finish 16th In the Coast-To-Coast Battle In Beantown

BOSTON, Mass. – The Lehigh men's cross country team raced in the Coast-To-Coast Battle In Beantown on Friday, placing 16th.
One of the region's biggest races, Lehigh went up against top teams such as Syracuse, Georgia Tech and North Carolina along with Patriot league opponents Boston University and Bucknell.
"It was disappointing to be honest, BU and Bucknell are two league teams that you want to beat. Anytime you lose to league teams you're not going to be too excited," said head coach Todd Etters after the race. "We as a team want to be consistently top-10 in the region and the upper tier of the Patriot League, and a race like today was not at that level."
Junior Jeffrey Kirshenbaum was the top finisher for the Mountain Hawks, as he completed the race 49th overall with a time of 25:11.5.
Behind Kirshenbaum was fellow junior Matt Kravitz, who finished 77th overall with a time of 25:34.2.
Lehigh had one other runner finish in the top-100, as sophomore Seth Slavin finished 98th with a time of 25:44.4.
"Those are the guys that should be leading the way, it's not a surprise where they were. They have to be together and farther up in the field. That's the argument for every guy in the field today, they got to get out a bit better in the race and go for it earlier and have the confidence that they can do that.
"I think sometimes when you don't race to your potential you get angry about it, and that's not a bad thing. There is time to fix some of these mistakes with it early in the season, but right now we need to have more aggression in our races and fighting for each other compared to as opposed to running 12 different races because we have 12 different guys on the line."
Lehigh will return for its lone home meet of the year, with the 45th annual Paul Short run presented by Asics next week. The Paul Short run features the top college and high school teams and individual runners in the country.
