
Men's XC Prepares For The 45th Paul Short Run This Saturday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's cross country team gets ready for their lone home meet of the year, as they host the historic Paul Short Run on the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course.
This will be will the 45th edition of the Paul Short Run, presented by ASICS, this Saturday, September 29. The Paul Short Run is the largest intercollegiate cross country meet in the nation with approximately 6,000 athletes from nearly 450 colleges and high schools slated to compete this year. The day-long event includes 14 races (six college, six high school and two open races) beginning at 9:30 a.m. with the men's open race and concludes with the girls' high school JV race at 5:45 p.m.
The Mountain Hawks continue to stay nested in the top-15 teams in the Mid-Atlantic region, with a 11th place ranking in the most recent polls. Fellow Patriot League opponents Navy (6), Bucknell (10) and American (12) are also among those ranked in the region. Princeton stays on top of the rankings for another week.
The 2018 running of Paul Short features a deep and talented field from across the nation and all three NCAA divisions. For the men's Gold Race, those include Mid-Atlantic ranked schools such as Penn, Saint Joseph's, Lehigh, La Salle and American. Also competing are national ranked Division III Christopher Newport (27), Carnegie Mellon (12) and Amherst (3).
In the Coast-To-Coast Battle In Beantown in Boston, Mass. last week, Lehigh finished 16th overall, with junior Jeffrey Kirshenbaum leading the way for the Mountain Hawks with a 49th overall finish with a time of 25:11.5. Matt Kravitz was next to finish for Lehigh with a 77th place finish with a time of 24:34.2.
Last year Patrick Reilly broke the record for the fastest time recorded by a Lehigh runner at the Paul Short Run with a 18th place finish and a time of 23:57. Kirshenbaum was next to finish for the Brown and White with a 66th place finish and a time of 24:31.
