Four Mountain Hawks Named Academic All-Patriot League

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Four members of the Lehigh men's and women's track and field teams have been voted Academic All-Patriot League, the league announced on Wednesday. Senior Patrick Reilly, along with sophomores Jeffrey Kirshenbaum, Victor Yegon and Ashleigh Crawford have all been honored for their accomplishments on the track and in the classroom during the 2018 outdoor track season.
Reilly takes home the sixth academic all-league award of his career between cross country, indoor and outdoor track. He placed seventh in the 10K at last weekend's Patriot League Championships and holds the No. 3 10K time (31:21.90) in the Patriot League this season. Sporting a 4.0 cumulative GPA, he has made the Dean's List (> 3.6 GPA) in all seven semesters so far at Lehigh and is a seven-time member of the Patriot League's Academic Honor Roll. He is a physics and political science double major, who also qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships this past November.
Kirshenbaum takes home his third academic all-league honor of the year, previously earning the distinction for both cross country and indoor track. A three-time Dean's List student and member of the PL's Academic Honor Roll, Kirshenbaum placed fourth in the 10K at the PL Championships in addition to competing in the 5K. Boasting a 3.97 GPA, the economics major holds the No. 2 10K time (30:45.48) in the league entering this weekend's IC4A Championships.
Yegon earns his first academic all-league honor after winning his first career Patriot League title in the steeplechase on Saturday, running ahead of the field with a new PR of 9:06.78, just over half a second shy of the fastest time in the league this season. He is a two-time PL Academic Honor Roll selection Faculty Athletics Council Award Recipient. The arts and sciences major boasts a cumulative GPA of 3.52.
On the women's side, Crawford also captured her first Patriot League title over the weekend with her victory in the steeplechase (10:31.48), and also placed fifth in the 5K (17:40.51). At the Larry Ellis Invitational, she ran a personal-best time of 10:27.88 in the steeplechase, the fastest time in the PL this season by nearly 10 seconds, and the 44th fastest time in the NCAA East Region, currently putting her in qualifying position for a bid to the NCAA First Round prelims. Holding a 3.80 GPA, this is the first academic all-league nod for the bioengineering major.
The academic all-league teams are comprised of 10 men and 10 women who have a minimum grade-point average of 3.2, in addition to being a key starter or contributor to their team. Freshman are not eligible for this honor. Voting was conducted by the league's track and field sports information directors.
