BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After a season-opening meet in Florida two weeks ago and a weekend off last Saturday due to snow, the Lehigh track and field teams will return to competition at the Raleigh Relays and Lafayette 8-Way Invitational this weekend.
Lehigh will have 11 women and eight men scheduled to compete on Friday and Saturday on the campus on NC State in Raleigh. Kyle Kirk (800m), Kyle Berman (1500m), Matt Kravitz (mile) and John Tolbert (steeplechase), along with Jeffrey Kirshenbaum and Patrick Reilly (10,000m) are all scheduled to compete on the track for Lehigh. Adam Freesman and Riley LaRiviere are both scheduled to compete in the discus on Friday and hammer throw on Saturday morning.
The women will have Clare Severe, Hannah Bonaguidi and Stephanie Hayes compete in the 1500m run with Severe and Ashleigh Crawford also slated to race in the mile. Hayes is slated to join Henderson in the 5,000m on Friday evening and Stacie Nadel will compete in the steeplechase on Friday afternoon. Brittany Curtin will compete in the shot put, discus and hammer, while Paige Grossman will throw the discus and hammer. Maggie Tarmey is also listed to compete in the hammer throw. Hannah Patrick and Brianna Wanbaugh will both take part in the javelin.
The rest of the Mountain Hawks will head over to Lafayette on Saturday for the 8-Way Invitational. The meet will get underway with field events at 11 a.m. and the 4x100 relays will kick off the track events at noon. Along with the host Leopards, Lehigh will be joined by Patriot League foe Colgate, plus Moravian, Muhlenberg, Monmouth and Binghamton.
This marks the second week of action for Lehigh after opening up two weeks ago in Orlando at the Black and Gold Challenge at UCF. Crawford took home first place in the steeplechase, hitting the ECAC qualifying time of 10:52.94, which earned her an honorable mention in the Patriot League's weekly awards. Henderson returned to the track for her first competition since the cross country season and landed in third place of the 3,000m run. On the men's side, LU received a 10th place finish from Kravitz in the 800m invitational, and a pair of top 10 finishes in the 3,000m from freshmen Michael Mitchell (sixth) and Nick Norton (seventh).
