BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Lehigh men's soccer senior forward Mark Forrest was named Offensive Player of the Week by the Patriot League on Monday, following his three-goal performance in a 3-1 victory over Holy Cross on Senior Night Saturday.
The award is Forrest's fourth of the season and Patriot League-record 10th and final of his career.
Forrest finished the regular season with eight goals and five assisted for 21 points which culminated in the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year award for the second straight season, also announced on Monday.
Forrest scored on a penalty kick goal in the 29th minute, a free kick in the 56th minute and a goal in the 67th minute to cap the fourth hat trick of his career.
"I'm pleased for Mark to be able to get another Player of the Week honor," said head coach Dean Koski. "The three goals against Holy Cross were significant because of the Senior Night moment and coming off a bit of a dry spell.
"For him to score three goals against a team that he has never scored against in his career only speaks to the kind of impact he has had on this team and in the Patriot League."
His performance also helped the Mountain Hawks clinch the No. 2 seed in the Patriot League tournament, earning a bye into the semifinal round on Friday at Loyola in Baltimore at 7 p.m.
