BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh men's basketball team will look to carry over the momentum from Tuesday's home-opening win when it hosts Princeton on Friday evening as part of Knoebels Night at Lehigh Basketball. Opening tipoff is set for 8:30 p.m. following the 6 p.m. game featuring the Lehigh women against Villanova. The Mountain Hawks are eying their second straight 3-1 start after previously not starting 3-1 since 2008-09.

A lot is planned for Knoebels Night, on the eve of the 154th meeting between Lehigh and Lafayette in the most-played rivalry in college football history. Any fan who brings a canned food item (to be donated to Second Harvest) receives $3 admission. Fans can show their Lehigh-Lafayette football ticket for $1 admission. The first 600 fans will receive a $5 ticket book for Knoebels while there will be a photo booth with Clutch and Kozmo prior to both the women's and men's games. Additionally, the NCAA National Championship trophy will be on display in the lobby of Stabler.

Tickets for Friday's game are FREE with a Lehigh ID and as low as $5 for the general public. Lehigh students can take the Campus Connector bus to the game, with buses set to leave at 7:50 p.m. from Packer Ave. and 7:55 from Alpha Phi (among other times). For the complete campus connector bus schedule, please click here. Goodman Campus stops are GC - Soccer Pavilion and GC - Traffic Circle.

On Tuesday, both teams were raining threes as Marist knocked down 15 of its first 24 while Lehigh finished 13-of-27. Despite the Red Foxes shooting treys at a 63 percent clip at one point, the Mountain Hawks hung within striking distance. When Marist missed its final five threes, Lehigh ended the game with nine straight points and 25 of the final 35, to win 78-72 and improve to 6-0 all-time against the Red Foxes. In the end, Marist was 15-of-29 from downtown, tied for the Stabler Arena record for most threes in a game (Lehigh or opponent). The Mountain Hawks' 13 made treys were just two off the pace.

Seniors Kyle Leufroy and Lance Tejada helped lead the charge, shooting a combined 8-of-16 from distance. Leufroy tallied 20 second-half points to finish the game with a career-high tying 23. He moved from a tie for 35th place all the way to 33rd in school history for career points (currently 1,036). In his first three games of the season, Leufroy eclipsed 1,000 career points (at Monmouth), 200 assists (at Miami) and 400 rebounds (vs. Marist). Meanwhile, Tejada had 16 points and a career-high seven assists. Junior Pat Andree posted his fifth-career double-double with 16 points and 10 boards, shooting 3-of-4 from three; he is now 11-of-19 from behind the arc this season (58 percent). Junior Jordan Cohen added 11 points and seven rebounds. The Mountain Hawks outrebounded Marist 36-30 for the game and have outrebounded their opponents 127-103 for the season. Lehigh won its home opener for a second straight year and 10th time in the last 13 years.

The Mountain Hawks trailed by as many as 12 in the first half (30-18), but went on a 10-3 run to end the stanza. The second half saw nine lead changes. The win marked the 200th of head coach Brett Reed's career, becoming just the fourth coach in Patriot League history to reach that milestone. Reed is currently five wins behind American's Jeff Jones for third place on the league's all-time list and 35 behind Bucknell's Pat Flannery. Reed owns an impressive 200-147 career record and is Lehigh's all-time winningest coach.

Lehigh and Princeton are set to square off for a third straight season after the Mountain Hawks won each of the last two years. Two years ago, Lehigh defeated Princeton in Stabler Arena 76-67 behind 20 points from Cohen. Last year, the Mountain Hawks jumped out to a 22-point halftime lead then the Tigers pulled as close as two, but Lehigh pulled away for the 85-73 win. After losing three of the first 32 all-time meetings against Princeton, the Mountain Hawks have won three of the last four.

Princeton has played one game so far, defeating Division III DeSales 85-51 last Friday. Predicted fourth in the preseason Ivy League poll, the Tigers are two years removed from an Ivy League title in 2017. After finishing 13-16 last season, four of the team's top five scorers return, including top two scorers Devin Cannady (16.7 points, 5.4 rebounds) and Myles Stephens (15.3 points, 6.3 rebounds). In its first game against De Sales, Stephens led the way with 21 points while Drew Friberg had 13. The Tigers also recorded 10 blocks as a team.

Lehigh has won three of the last four against Princeton after dropping 29 of the first 32 all-time meetings. The Mountain Hawks won in 2008 (68-49), 2016 (76-67) and 2017 (85-73), with a 73-64 defeat at Princeton sandwiched in between. Lehigh's previous victory was during the 1929-30 season (30-25) with the other Lehigh wins in 1925-26 (33-25) and 1920-21 (24-20). The first-ever meeting between the sides was in 1905-06, a 46-22 Princeton victory.

After Friday's game, the Mountain Hawks hit the road next week for games next Wednesday (Nov. 21) at Siena and Saturday (Nov. 24) at Kansas State.
