Lehigh has won nine of its last 12 home openers overall, last season falling to Monmouth. All three of its losses in that span have come over the last five years. Head coach Brett Reed heads into Tuesday's game with 199 career wins. Meanwhile, the Mountain Hawks will look to improve to 6-0 all-time vs. Marist, who is led by first-year head coach John Dunne. In total, Lehigh faces three teams with new head coaches during its nonleague slate (also Siena and Mount St. Mary's). The Mountain Hawks also face two MAAC teams in their first three games and three in their first five (also Monmouth and Siena).
Lehigh has won all five all-time meetings against Marist, with three coming since the turn of the century. Last season, the Mountain Hawks picked up a thrilling 84-76 overtime win at Marist. Lehigh also won in 2010 (91-78) and 2009 (66-55). The other matchups saw Lehigh win in 1990 (76-73) and 1982 (70-68).
