BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Seven home duals and matchups with four of the top 10 finishers at last year's NCAA Championships highlight the 2017-18 Lehigh wrestling schedule, announced Thursday by head coach Pat Santoro. Earlier Thursday, Lehigh announced that the Mountain Hawks will host two-time defending National Champion Penn State in the annual rivalry dual, Sunday December 3 at PPL Center in Allentown.

The Penn State match is one of seven home duals, with the other six slated for Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall. The Mountain Hawks will also make return trips to the Journeymen Collegiate Classic and the Southern Scuffle.

"We believe we have an exciting team coming back and we wanted to put together a challenging schedule for them," Santoro said. "I think we've done that. We're going to see a lot of potential top-5, top-10 teams. We're looking forward to seeing where our guys stand early on and then obviously getting them ready for March."

Fans will get their first look at the 2017-18 Mountain Hawks when Lehigh hosts the annual Brown and White Wrestle-offs on Thursday, October, 26.

The regular season opens with a dual at EIWA rival Bucknell on Friday, November 10, before heading to Troy, N.Y. for the Journeymen Collegiate Classic on Sunday, November 12. The Journeymen Classic will once again feature a round-robin tournament-style format as opposed to traditional duals.

Lehigh's opening home weekend features a pair of quality duals sandwiched around the 153rd meeting of college football's played rivalry, the Lehigh-Lafayette football game. The night before the big game, Friday, November 17, the Mountain Hawks will host Edinboro at 7 p.m. while on Sunday, November 19, Michigan visits Bethlehem for the first time since November 2010. The Wolverines finished 10th at last year's NCAA Championships.

Two days before Penn State visits the Lehigh Valley for the 106th dual before the longtime eastern rivals, Lehigh will head to Princeton to face an up-and-coming Tiger squad on December 1. The fall semester will conclude with road duals at Penn and Drexel, whose campuses are across the street from one another, on Sunday, December 10.

To ring in 2018, Lehigh will make its fourth consecutive appearance at the Southern Scuffle, January 1-2 in Chattanooga, Tenn. The Mountain Hawks finished third at the Scuffle in each of the last two seasons and had an individual champion last year in Jordan Kutler.

Lehigh resumes dual action when EIWA foes American and Navy visit Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall on January 12 and 14, respectively. The Navy dual on January 14 will be the 98th meeting between the longtime EIWA foes.

The Mountain Hawks will close out January with three road duals. Lehigh will visit Cornell on Friday January 19 looking for its second straight road win against the 11-time defending EIWA champions. Two days later the Mountain Hawks will wrestle at Army West Point, Lehigh's first visit to West Point since 2008. January concludes with Lehigh visiting Virginia Tech on Friday, January 26. The Hokies pulled out a 21-15 win at Grace Hall last season on the way to a sixth place finish at the NCAA Championships.

Lehigh will be off from competition the first weekend of February and will wrap-up a four-dual road swing with a visit to Arizona State on Friday, February 9. The Sun Devils finished 14th at last year's NCAA Championships. The Mountain Hawks will be visiting Tempe, Arizona for the first time since 2007.

The Mountain Hawks will wrap-up the dual season with a pair of home duals. Lehigh welcomes Oklahoma to Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall on Friday, February 16. Two days later, the Mountain Hawks will host Pitt to close out the dual season.

"We try to have the most competitive schedule we can," Santoro said. "We want to see the best teams in the country because our goal is ultimately to be the best. We want national champions. We want to see as many good wrestlers as possible and I think we've done that over the last few years.

"We've brought on some new teams," Santoro continued. "We're wrapping-up a home-and-home with Virginia Tech which has been nice. We're excited to have Arizona State on our schedule, and they're going to come back next year. To add some new competitive teams that are on the rise along with the traditional powerhouses and our rivals is always something we're going to strive to do."

Hofstra will host the EIWA Championships, March 3-4 in Hempstead, N.Y., while the NCAA Championships will be held at Cleveland's Quicken Loans Arena March 15-17.

Season ticket holders can begin renewals on Thursday, September 14, while new season tickets will go on sale on Monday, September 18. Individual match tickets will go on sale on September 25. For more information regarding Lehigh wrestling tickets, visit LehighTickets.com or call 610-7LU-GAME.

The Mountain Hawks posted a 10-4 dual mark in 2016-17 and finished second at the EIWA Championships and 12th at the NCAA Championships. Lehigh's returning roster features five NCAA qualifiers including All-American Scott Parker and NCAA Champion Darian Cruz.
