NEW YORK, N.Y. – Junior Fritz Isaac highlighted the Lehigh men's track and field team's two meets this weekend by breaking the school record in the 60 meter hurdles at the Villanova Invitational on Saturday. Lehigh also picked up a win from senior Lucas Warning in the shot put at the unscored meet. The Mountain Hawks also had number of runners compete at the Armory Track Invitational, where the team finished 29th overall, setting several personal records.

"A big weekend for Lehigh track and field," said head coach Matt Utesch. "Things are really coming together as we near the Patriot League Championships. Not only did we set three school records (including two women's program records), we had a number of personal records as well. It's my favorite part of the season because this is when the team starts to put on a show."

Competing at the Nova Invite, Isaac began his day in the prelims of the 60m hurdles where he set a new personal record of 8.30 seconds to secure his spot as one of eight runners in the finals. He then went out in the finals and ran his way into the record book by finishing fifth in 8.21 seconds, besting the previous school benchmark of 8.23, set by Vaclav Malek in 2003. It is the Pittsburgh native's first school record.

Over in the jumps, sophomore Ryan Givens grabbed third place in the high jump at 1.97m. He also competed in the long jump, where he finished sixth at 6.84m, just one centimeter shy of his season high. Junior Michael Gooding (13.78m) and freshman Eric Metz (13.67m) finished eighth and ninth respectively, in the triple jump.

Warning took home first place in the shot put once again, throwing 17.62m, a full 1.03 meters further than the runner-up finisher. Freshman Adam Freesman also competed in the throws with an 11th place (12.76m) finish in the weight throw.

Over at the Armory, Jake Sabatini ran a season-best time of 7.20 seconds in the prelims of the 60m dash. Emre Soybas led Lehigh in 39th place of the 200m dash, finishing in 23.03, and then set a season-best in the 400m dash (51.38). Tom Troxell competed in both the 200m and 500m, setting a PR in the 200 at 23.61 seconds, and finishing 22nd in the 500 in 1:08.06.

Freshman Ryan Paradise set a new PR (1:57.91) with his 22nd place showing in the 800m run, and sophomore Mitchell Daddario (2:34.76) did the same in 17th place of the 1,000m. John Tolbert also ran the mile, finishing in 4:14.05, placing ahead of Grace (25th/4:24.03) and Ryan Cooney (32nd/4:32.39).

The Brown and White had a strong showing in the 3,000m run, with freshman Matt Kravitz leading the way in 13th place out of 43 finishers in PR time of 8:25.57. Junior Patrick Reilly finished two spots behind in 15th with a PR of his own in 8:26.16. Senior Alexander Fitzgerald cracked the top 20 with a 19th place finish and a season-best time of 8:33.43.

In the 5K, Evan Hardy paced Lehigh in seventh place in 14:56.26, edging out freshman Jeffrey Kirshenbaum, who placed ninth (14:58.95).

Lehigh will next compete on Friday at the Bucknell Tune-Up in their final meet before the Patriot League Championships.
